Directory modules are special modules that are designed to display large groups of items in a single location. Visitors can search for or filter items to easily locate them in a directory. Common types of directories include:
company directories
product catalogs
staff directories
member directories
and dining guides.
Directories can be configured many different ways. The information entered for an item is defined in these configuration settings as well as the search criteria, filter criteria and the look and format of the information on the website.
One common use of the Directory modules is to create a list of products that can be purchased on the site. The list of products could display a picture of each product, some basic information, and a link for taking a closer look. When an item is clicked on from the list, the detail page would load, and this page could display a larger image of the product, more detailed information and an "Add to Cart" button, allowing customers to purchase products online, integrating with Accrisoft Freedom's shopping cart system and commerce tools. Another example of a configuration of the Directories modules is a dining guide with a list of restaurants.
